When Federal Trade Commission invited feedback from consumers asking them to forward all the unsolicited emails they had received, they found that most of these were fraudulent and identified 12 of them which were most prevalent on the net.

Topping the list was the "Business Opportunity" with the promise to earn an unbelievable $150 to $4,000 a day, all that and more, without doing any work or making any investments!

Further they also claim that the business doesn't involve selling, marketing, meetings or personal contact with others or that someone else will do all the work.

All these business opportunity solicitations are woefully short on the nature of the business conducted by the company, but make tall promises about huge earnings. The email usually lists a telephone number to call for more information.

Upon calling you'll be told to leave your name and telephone number so that a salesperson will call you back. Even if you get a reply, maybe they're selective in choosing their victims; you'll soon realize these are no different than illegal pyramid schemes masquerading as legitimate opportunities to earn money.

Then there are other schemes that offer unlimited profits by trading money on world currency markets whereby they claim to make profits by making use of the exchange rate variations from one country to another and the fluctuations of rise and fall in the currency with respect to US Dollars.

Some newsletters may even describe novel ideas of easy-money opportunities and the secret to making $4,000 in one day.

Common to all the above Business Opportunity scams is that the people offering them are often hiding behind an email address, which in any case is unaccountable and they never list a mailing address.

Then there is this guy called Jason Ryan Isaksen who has written a book called Double Payment claiming to reveal all the secrets of earning thousands of dollars per day, by just sitting at home in front of the computer for one hour (browsing) and he actually puts up his bank statement to prove his claim!
