Is My Spyware Doctor Safe?
from: Home Biz AdvisorJust as Antivirus programmes continuously running in the background is a must for any computer connected to the net, so also installation of Anti spyware tools to detect and clean thousands of potential spyware, adware, trojans, keyloggers, spyware cookies, trackware, spybots, ActiveX threats and other malware from your PC. It provides immunization the system against attacks on privacy while performing fast detection on Windows startup to alert you with a list of the potential identified threats.
The crucial key for safe and successful working of a Spyware is to constantly update it, almost at the frequency of once per day. Better still is to set your programme for auto update so that whenever you connect to the net, the Spyware checks itself without your intervention to see if any new updates have come since the last login. New Spywares are being written almost daily and the number of them that need to be blocked also keeps growing.
After updating, comes scanning the system. By having an anti-spyware program that is always running in the background the moment you start your computer, the less chance there is of getting hit by spyware. But as this uses up system resources, this may also slow down your system a bit, unless you don't have the latest model of computer.
The other alternative would be to schedule when the Spyware program should scan your system and thereby avoid interruptions by the program starting up on it's own while you are in the middle of a task, especially when you are playing a game on the computer and you do not want anything extra running in the background that could slow you down. You can conveniently schedule the time of running.
After completely scanning the system, the software prompts to what are all the malicious codes or pieces of software that were detected and must be removed or deleted permanently or to be restored to their original values. Caution should be exercised not to delete or alter system files.
As no one spyware program can guarantee 100% detection and removal on what it finds, it's sometimes advised to run two to three Spywares of different companies to ensure that what's missed by the one could be tracked and deleted by another.
