Motivating Your
Affiliates
Operating your own affiliate
programs is relatively easy with the software programs that are now
available. However, it’s one thing to setup your own affiliates
program, it’s another thing to keep your affiliates motivated and
selling. If your business success depends on how well your
affiliates perform, than it’s important you provide them with the
right tools to get the job done successfully.
If you’re
already running an affiliate program for your products, you probably
already know that a the majority of people who sign up for your
program will never be heard from again. However, one thing you can
do to reduce the number of nonproductive affiliates is to remain in
constant touch.
You can remind them of their usernames and
passwords, and tell them where to log in to check their statistics.
You should also always keep them informed of new product lines or
changes in policy and procedures.
The key to keeping
them motivated is making sure you stay in touch. Make sure
you pay attention to who your top sellers and worst producers are so
you can contact them on a regular basis.
So why do so many
people sign up for affiliate programs and not perform well? It’s
mainly because most affiliates don't possess any leadership or
guidance. You can help your affiliates by putting together a
marketing course, which you can even offer for sale to non
affiliates but make available to your affiliates at no
charge.
You should also keep your sales copy up to date.
Constantly provide new material for your affiliates to use on
because just one text link and one banner won’t generate much
excitement or motivation for them to promote your
products.
You should provide your affiliates with
sales letters, reviews, ads, banners of different shapes and sizes —
anything you think will help motivate them to promote your products
consistently. Make sure your affiliates know the material
is there for them to use and always listen to any suggestions your
affiliates might have on how you can improve your affiliate
program.
You might consider holding virtual meetings by
setting up chat rooms and a forum where your affiliates can attend
virtual meetings on a weekly basis. This is where you can answer any
questions, bring in motivated speakers, and anything else you can
think of to make the meetings more motivated.
Giving your
affiliates the credit they deserve is also very important. Each
month, you should spotlight your best performers in your affiliate
newsletter. You should also consider paying small bonuses to those
who perform well, and you can even set up a payment structure that
rewards higher commissions and bigger volumes of sales.
As
you can see, it’s important that you are constantly doing everything
you can to help your affiliates succeed and make money with your
program. If they’re making money — you’re making money as well. To
be blunt — your success depends entirely on their success.
